The Proposal

Throughout Katie and Chad's relationship there has been a "short list" of dating curveballs when some events did not turn out as planned. This helped set the surprise proposal stage, along with some fun #GosenGullibility. A marathon date, nicknamed "Redemption Day", was put in motion to relive 3 fun date curveballs and successfully enjoy the original intention.

1. Balboa Park street vendor - In an effort to successfully relive an original intention from their first date, a Balboa Park street vendor was required. Fortunately (and simultaneously unfortunately), there was only one street vendor still in the park on this rare rainy San Diego day -face painting then became a Redemption Day necessity.

2. Dinner at a Little Italy restaurant - an earlier gift card dinner date at "Maggiano's Little Italy" restaurant proved troublesome when we realized the restaurant was actually hours away and "Little Italy" in the restaurant name does not guarantee it's located within San Diego's Little Italy. For Redemption Day, dinner was finally shared at a true Italian restaurant in San Diego's Little Italy.

3. Ferry ride -sometimes even directions being present can't prevent us from arriving late to the ferry landing as the boat floats away. But on Redemption Day, we happily looked back on downtown San Diego as we enjoyed the breeze from the ferry ride to Coronado.

Despite the reminiscent events from the day, Katie was still completely surprised by the evening proposal. Redemption Day success!
